Maryland Homestead Tax Credit Law

Limits the amount of assessment increase on which Maryland Homeowners pay County, and State property taxes every year.  This Credit can have an impact on your Taxes.  Regardless of your home's value or your income.

Even if you have lived in your home for 20 years, an application must be filed by December 31st, 2012.
The application will verify your principal residence;
http://www.dat.state.md.us/sdatweb/Homestead_application.pdf

See if you have filed and were approved here;
http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/rp_rewrite/

--Select your County
--Click "Street Address"

--Enter your street #, and street name.  Do not write "street, court" etc..
--Look at bottom of page & see if your Homestead application was filed. If not, it will read "No Application".  If it was, it will show the date your application was approved.

I checked, and I had not filed.  I printed above Application and I'm mailing it to Dept of Assessments and Taxation
TODAY.
