Avenel homes for sale
Avenel in Potomac is an upscale community of homes unlike any of its kind. Built in the ‘80s and ‘90s on the expansive 1,018 acre Avenel Farm located in the town of Potomac (20854) in Montgomery County, Maryland.  The neighborhood borders Potomac and Bethseda in Maryland between Persimmon Tree Road to the north, Falls Road to the west, and McArthur Boulevard to the south. It is divided into 14 breathtaking villages with Oaklyn Drive running through the center connecting all of them and contains approximately 900 luxury homes, the community at Avenel offers many elite amenities.

Avenel Swim and Tennis Club, a third-party privately owned facility, offers 5.1 acres of top tier recreation. The complex has three swimming pools, open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. One is a 6 lane, 25 meter, heated competition pool; another is a large, heated, leisure zero beach entry and a partially submerged sunning bench; the last is a wading pool, also with zero beach entry and a fountain. The club has a swim team that participates in six–eight swim meets per season in the Country Club League.

Miles and miles of paths run throughout the villages and wooded areas for joggers, bikers, and leisurely strollers. Wrought iron and oak benches along the path offer rest to the runner or a cozy place to enjoy nature. The trails connect with a privately operated Equestrian Center that operates within the boundaries of Avenel hosting horse stables and riding facilities.

Connecting with nature is easy for residents at Avenel. The county-owned Avenel Park provides an exciting collection of recreational choices with three tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a children’s playground, and a three-mile jogging and bike trail surrounding it all.

Much effort and thought went into the style and ambiance at Avenel, and that is evidenced by the details. Trademark stone piers mark all entrances to the community with engraved capstones labeling each of the 14 villages. Custom streetlights line all the streets and specially crafted traffic and directional signs add to the feeling of being in a unique and wonderful place. Residents can hold events and holiday gatherings at Avenel club house which includes a general purpose meeting room that can hold up to 140 people and features a warming kitchen and bathhouse.

Six different committees, covering everything from landscape to new construction, ensure that everything in the community continues to look amazing and runs smoothly. The Avenel Community Association handles snow removal, lawn care and maintenance of all the amenities. There is also a crew of private security that keeps watch over the neighborhoods, so you can always feel safe while at home.

TPC Potomac Golf Course

The grandest feature at Avenel is the world class TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm PGA owned golf course.

The course just recently reopened in 2009 after a $20 million dollar renovation that was overseen by PGA tour Design Services. The par 70 course has 7,139 yards of pristine landscape over 220 acres of rolling countryside within the residential community. TPC Potomac offers personalized service, modern conveniences, and amazing privileges. Being a member at TPC Potomac not only gives you access to the championship course and state-of-the art practice facility, but you can also utilize the spacious club house featuring casual and fine dining areas, a full service golf shop, pristine locker rooms, and your choice of boardroom and banquet areas that are perfect for any event.

This prestigious golf course was one of the reasons the community at Avenel was named one of the nation’s 100 best golf communities.

Just across the street to the north sits Potomac Village with its resourceful shopping center. Walgreens, Safeway, the Gap, Starbucks, Rite Aide, and a UPS Store are just a few of the retail stores within easy reach of your home. Bank of America, Citibank and First Union Bank are there to cover your financial needs.

Nearby Tysons Corner offers a myriad of shopping options including Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Nordstrom. Their many restaurants include California Pizza Kitchen, Seasons 52, and TGI Friday's. You can even catch a blockbuster movie at the AMC Theaters. Montgomery Mall is close by as well and boasts its fair share of retail, dining, and entertainment options.

Young kids at Avenel will attend Seven Locks Elementary, which provides a "rigorous instructional program for all students to become independent thinkers, problem solvers and life-long learners."

Cabin John and Herbert Hoover Middle Schools will educate students in grades 6–8. Cabin John has just gone through extensive renovation and remodeling and the new and improved school reopened in early 2012. The Center of Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University named Herbert Hoover Middle School one of the top ten schools in the state.

Winston Churchill High School, which was just voted top public school in Maryland by USA Today. In 2007, the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the Department of Education.

Avenel really is one of Washington prestigious addresses and is the perfect place if you are looking for luxury, style, and serenity.
